International Travel Insurance To Africa

Despite plans being flawless and preparations made to the hilt, circumstances still can crop up out of nowhere. Many unpredictable things can happen when you are on safari. You can expect these ‘unpredictable things’ to force you to call off your vacation to return home, or to deal with the emergency immediately while on holiday.

Can anything be done to prepare for these instances? Yes! Purchasing Travel Insurance will ensure that most, if not all the costs for these unforeseen circumstances will be covered. Travel Insurance is purchasable prior to making any significant steps towards your planned African safari. It will definitely serve as a safety net for you and the people you will be traveling with. Getting an insurance cover is important when traveling to Africa; in fact it is a requirement for your own good.

Before you start searching for a company which can assist you with Africa travel insurance, there are things that you should keep in mind. You should ask the following

- What kind of insurance do you need?

- Do you travel around the world frequently?

- Are you planning to make trips to other locations besides Africa?

If you answered yes to most of the question, try considering an International Travel Insurance Plan. As the name implies, this insurance plan would ensure that you are given sufficient “International Coverage” wherever you go. The policies set in these plans should cover you well when you travel to Africa.

Here is another thing to keep in mind. Say that a situation arises during your stay in Africa, and as a result, you or someone with you needs emergency medical treatment. After the medical treatment, you have to shoulder the bill for the meantime. In this light, try to check the insurance policy that you are interested in, and make sure that your insurance plan covers reimbursement for medical expenses.

You should also make it a point to look over the said policy to see if it covers one of the many activities you may participate in when you get to Africa. Does your Insurance Policy cover any injuries you might get when you take part on a wild and unpredictable safari?

Would the company cover you when something happens during white water rafting, bungee jumping, quad biking, dune boarding, or camel riding? The policy should be able to answer your questions in detail. Take note that there are certain programs and activities in Africa that you may not be able to take part in if you do not have travel insurance in the first place.

Be prepared to shell out a few extra bucks for premium payments for addendum to your policy to cover those unique activities that you plan to do in Africa. A few extra costs and effort is quite inconvenient, but you will see how vital they can get if something ever happens.

Keep in mind that the insurance company should provide you with a comprehensive policy. You will need this document in case there are problems on your repatriation when returning to your home country. A comprehensive policy should contain specific details surrounding unexpected circumstance: medical expense coverage, treatment services, and trip interruption, to name a few. These details will help in determining the extent of coverage of your travel.

The Insurance policy document is apparently as important as your passport in many cases. Before leaving for Africa, make sure to leave it at home and/or with somebody that the company can contact in case of emergency. While traveling or in certain situations, have a copy of the Travel Insurance Policy for the crew you are with, state clearly who to call when emergency happens.

Checking the coverage limits of your travel insurance is very important to find out how you are covered in case something happens. One other factor that you should not overlook in the same policy would be the rules regarding reimbursement in case something happens. Getting money back means more to spend on other vacations in the future.

Whenever you plan on an African Safari for business or pleasure, do not forget to consider purchasing travel insurance. It isn’t just for you, it is also for what you have with you. It’s bound to give you the peace of mind that each and every traveler deserves.

Trip Cancellation Insurance Protects Your Travel Investment

Economic difficulties and the constantly rising cost of fuel continues to drive the cost of travel upward. With that in mind, it’s important that you protect your travel investment by purchasing trip cancellation insurance. This type of insurance will allow you to recoup your investment should you have to cancel your trip.

There are many reasons people cancel their travel plans nowadays. For a lot of people, security issues make them feel uncomfortable traveling, and they may choose not to use plane tickets they booked months ago. If you have travel cancellation insurance and Cancel for Any Reason coverage, you can cancel your flight with 48 hours notice and save 75% of your expenses.

Another common reason for cancelling is because of shifting business plans. A client may cancel or re-schedule meetings on very short notice, which can leave you on the hook for expensive hotel and airfare costs. But by adding Cancel for Work Reasons coverage to your trip cancellation policy, your investment will be protected in the event a client changes your plans.

Health issues can also cause you to postpone a flight. Some policies offer coverage for pre-existing conditions like heart problems. When these conditions flare up, traveling may not be safe, so you’ll need trip cancellation insurance to make sure you get some of your money back if you cannot depart.

A lot of travel insurance packages will have a special event cancellation addendum which will offer reimbursement if an event you were planning to attend is cancelled. Availability of this coverage varies by plan, so be sure to talk to your plan representative to learn more.

And your trip cancellation insurance policy covers hotel costs and cruise purchases as well. Plus, many plans will cover flight delays and interruptions in addition to actual cancellations. This level of protection will definitely allow you to book with peace of mind.

It’s easy to calculate the expense for these programs. They’re determined by your age and the cost of your trip.

As travel prices show no signs of slowing down, and travel delays and cancellations become more prevalent, every traveler should consider a travel insurance policy. For as little as under $100, you can protect your investment by simply planning for the uncertain.

Travel Insurance for Vacation Rentals

A family booked a rental cottage last summer, arrived safely and just loved the cottage. However, on the second day of their two week stay, the mom got a call to say her father was seriously ill and not expected to live. The family packed up and returned home, and sadly, her dad died a few days later. After the funeral, the renter called the cottage owner and asked what sort of refund she could expect as they had only used 2 days of their 14 day booking. The owner refused to pay any refund with the explanation that she relied on the cottage rental income to pay the costs of her cottage and it was always fully booked through the season. She was not able to find a replacement rental party at the last minute and as the rental agreement stated; if that was the case no money would be returned. Of course the rental group did not have travel insurance, which would probably have covered trip curtailment due to the illness and/or death of a close relative. The rental cost the family over $4000 and they were not able to recover a penny of that money.

Many people believe that trip insurance is only necessary if there is a flight involved; where delay, lost baggage, and the risk of the airline going bust, is covered; and medical cover is required in a foreign country. It’s not considered important, or not considered at all, to buy insurance to cover a trip taken by road to a self catering property in the same province or the same country.

Think again! Most cottage bookings are made several months in advance and many things could happen after you have booked to change your circumstances. Illnesses of any member of the traveling party, redundancy or a call to jury service are just a few of the situations that would be covered by a travel insurance policy. A few insurance companies also offer a ‘change of mind’ clause, allowing you to cancel for any reason after a booking has been made and paid in full. This normally pays out an amount sufficient to cover any cancellation fee the rental agency or owner may apply.

When you book your vacation rental property, check the property owners or agencies cancellation policies carefully. If it is not clear, ask the question. In general, most private owners and rental agencies will attempt to rebook a property if it is cancelled, and refund your money for the period they have rebooked, less a cancellation fee.

The premium paid for trip insurance becomes less significant, the more you are paying, however it is worthwhile at any price, for your peace of mind.

Group Travel Insurance For International Travel

International travel is expensive, so any chance to save money is always welcome. If you’re traveling in a group, you may want to consider Atlas group insurance. It offers you two great ways to save money during your travels.

The first way group medical insurance saves you money is by sharing the cost of medical insurance with the other people in your group. Rather than paying full price for several individual insurance policies, you and your fellow travelers can get a discounted price by buying one policy to cover your entire party. Therefore your own personal cost is minimized.

The second way international travel group insurance saves you money occurs when you use it. Your current insurance policy probably doesn’t cover healthcare needs that arise while you’re traveling overseas. That means that if you were to visit a doctor or a hospital during your international trip, you’d have to pay the full price for your medical care. Instead of the standard pays you’re used to, you’d suddenly be responsible for hundreds or even thousands of dollars in medical expenses.

But group medical insurance saves you from paying those high costs. It works just like your typical insurance policy, paying 100% of your coverage after the deductible has been met. And you can set your own deductible ranging from $0 up to $2,500, depending on what you’re comfortable with.

International group travel insurance is ideal for missionary groups of five or more people who may be concerned about the state of countries they are visiting. It covers standard medical expenses as well as extreme circumstances like evacuation expenses, terrorist attacks, and natural disasters.

Your group medical insurance policy will have a maximum coverage level that varies according to the age of people in your party. If all travelers are under the age of 70, the maximum coverage is $1,000,000. If travelers are between 70 and 79, the maximum coverage is $50,000. And for people 80 and over, the limit is $10,000.

By: Harry Higgins

About the Author:
International group travel insurance plans can be purchased in varying increments as well. For shorter term visits, you can buy a plan for as little as five days. For longer term stays, you can purchase up to 12 months worth of coverage.

Group medical insurance is a wise choice for international travelers in parties of five or more. It will help you save on the initial cost of buying travel medical insurance, as well as the long-term cost of getting healthcare service you need while abroad.
